This training provides tools for utilizing positive guidance to promote positive group behaviors in the early childhood classroom. Using positive teacher/child interactions and the environment to prevent negative behaviors will be emphasized. Practical tips on what to do when challenging behaviors arise will also be discussed.

1. Describe how self and group identity is formed in the earliest years of a child’s life and how bias and culture affect that formation.
2. Develop tools to recognize personal bias, identify personal culture, and provide culturally responsive environments.
